Republican nominee for governor Michael Minogue is setting a Massachusetts spending record. 

The Boston Globe reports Minogue spent nearly five-million dollars on media buys last month.  In September, he spent roughly double the amount his opponent, Democratic incumbent Maura Healey, spent in any single month during her campaign. 

Healey's campaign is criticizing the spending as an attempt by Minogue to "buy the election."  Minogue has put about 16-million dollars of his own money into his campaign.
