Convicted former Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia is out of federal prison and now works as a marketing manager for a local restaurant, 12 News has learned.

 

Correia, 34, was released back in July after serving more than half of his six-year sentence.

 

Though he served most of his sentence behind bars in New Hampshire and Kentucky, Correia was allowed to move back home and transition into a reentry program last year.

 

Correia was convicted in 2021 of shaking down prospective marijuana business owners for bribes, defrauding investors in his now-defunct app SnoOwl and lying to the IRS.

 

The jury found him guilty of 21 counts, but the trial judge later tossed out 10 of them based on technicalities in the law.

On top of his prison sentence, Corriea was ordered to pay more than $310,000 in restitution to his victims.
