Healey Proposing $2M Expansion of Postpartum Program

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey is proposing two-million dollars to expand postpartum care statewide.

The money would expand a program that sends nurses to the homes of families after a baby is born.  Nurses can screen for mental health concerns and connect parents with additional care.  The program currently serves about three-thousand births each year, but the proposal would make visits available statewide.

The announcement comes as the Lindsay Clancy trial has brought increased attention to postpartum mental health.
