A painter suffered a serious injury while working at a supermarket in Fall River early Friday morning, according to police.

Officers were called to the Stop & Shop off Mariano Bishop Boulevard just before 4:30 a.m. to help first responders with a medical emergency.

Police said a 58-year-old man was painting inside the grocery store when he fell and hit his head.

He reportedly was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of injuries described as “serious in nature.”
