Governor Maura Healey's administration is providing schools with new guidance on ICE. The guidance outlines steps to follow if ICE agents arrive or request access to a student or their records.
Schools are advised to consult legal counsel, document interactions, notify families and protect confidential information.
The guidance follows a new law extending protections against warrantless civil immigration arrests to schools and child care centers.
Districts and state funded or licensed child care programs must adopt policies by September 1st or their first day of classes.
