Governor Healey Signed Freedom To Read Act

There is a new law in Massachusetts that  protects librarians and teachers.

Governor Maura Healey has signed the Freedom to Read Act.  Under the law, a book cannot be banned or removed from libraries and/or schools until a public notice has been posted and a review hearing held.

It also protects school staff and librarians from professional, civil or criminal penalties for their choice of library materials.
