There is now a law in Massachusetts that eliminates barriers to late-term abortions. 

The Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act was signed Monday by Governor Maura Healey, a Democrat. 

Supporters note that under the new law women will no longer have to go out-of-state to access the care they need.  The act ensures that women experiencing serious pregnancy complications can receive appropriate medical care from their own health care provider. 

Critics see it as setting a dangerous precedent, arguing the previous law banning almost all abortions after 24 weeks was already too progressive.
