Police in Tiverton have located the boat responsible for hitting a child in the water Sunday afternoon.

 

In a statement to Facebook, police say the incident occurred just after 3pm in the Nannaquaket Pond.

Police issued a be on the lookout (BOLO) for the vessel.

 

The boat struck and injured an 11-year-old girl and then drove off. According to officials the girl is being treated at Hasbro Children’s Hospital for minor to moderate injuries.

 

According to police, the boat traveled north after hitting the child. Officials posted an image to their Facebook of the alleged vessel. They described it to be 20 feet in length with a burgundy hull.

 

Police say the boat was occupied by 5-6 male and female teenagers. Officials have not provided details of the occupants since they located the boat.

 

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is investigating the incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
