Back at Miss Lizzie’s Coffee previous location on Second Street, owner Joe Pereira recalled, he received an unexpected visitor: a costume designer for the Netflix true crime series "Monster."

The show’s next season, set for release this fall, will be about Fall River’s famous Lizzie Borden case. Pereira said the designer told him the show’s last season — the story of suspected serial killer Ed Gein, which racked up over 40 million views in three weeks — caused tourism to spike in its rural setting of Plainfield, Wisconsin.

“She anticipated the same thing happening for Fall River. And she actually told me, you know, you’ve got to be ready for this, because this is going to bring a lot of tourism to your area,” he said.

In what was likely Fall River’s most famous historical incident, 32-year-old Lizzie Borden was tried and acquitted for the Aug. 4, 1892, murders of her father and stepmother with what is believed to be a hatchet. The trial was a 19th-century media sensation, and has spawned folk rhymes, books, movies, and countless theories about what really took place that day.
