Residents, skateboarders and families are set to gather at Lafayette Park's new skate park in Fall River for Summer Jam, a community celebration scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. July 25.

The event will mark the installation of the skate park and highlight recreational opportunities in the city, according to a community announcement. Organizers say the afternoon will include skateboarding activities, live entertainment, local vendors and food trucks.

Attendees will have an opportunity to explore the new skatepark while taking part in a community gathering focused on Fall River's skateboarding scene.

The event also will feature a Best Trick Contest and Skate Jam designed for participants of varying experience levels. Skaters will compete for cash prizes during the Best Trick Contest.
