Two Westport business owners were among 105 people honored with a Commonwealth Pride Award during a ceremony, according to a community announcement.
Keith and Jessie Dias, the founders of Westport Pride Fest, received the award at the Massachusetts State House in Boston on June 19. The couple owns The Cat and Raven, a crystal and psychic shop on Main Road in Westport.
The Massachusetts LGBTQ+ Caucus organized the ceremony. State senators and representatives nominate individuals for their impact, leadership and contributions to the community.
Sen. Michael J. Rodrigues nominated Keith Dias, while Rep. Steven Ouellette nominated Jessie Dias.
The couple is also preparing for the third annual Westport Pride Fest, which is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 28 at Alice A. Macomber School, 154 Gifford Road in Westport. The event is free and will feature live entertainment, crafters, vendors and, for the first time, food trucks.
