Man convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2017 beating death

The Somerset man accused of brutally beating another man to death in Fall River nearly a decade ago has been convicted, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III.

Scott Rodrigues, 52, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in his third jury trial earlier this month. Quinn said his first trial resulted in a second-degree murder conviction that was later overturned, and his second ended with a hung jury.

Rodrigues was sentenced to serve between eight and 10 years in state prison as a result of the involuntary manslaughter conviction. However, Quinn said his sentence has been deemed served due to the amount of time Rodrigues has already spent behind bars.

The charge stems from the death of 63-year-old Dennis Cousineau back in October 2017. Quinn said Rodrigues and his then girlfriend, Mendi Perry, were leaving a house on Albion Avenue when they ran into Cousineau, who lived across the street.
