There’s a new four-legged “chief morale officer” at the Tiverton Fire Department.
Dexter, a nearly 4-month-old bernadoodle puppy, has officially begun his “journey toward becoming the department’s therapy and comfort dog.”
In a social media post last week, the department explained that Dexter has already begun his training, which includes socialization and working toward his certifications.
Dexter’s job will be primarily focused on supporting the department’s firefighters. He will also visit schools, businesses and other spots around town to bring smiles, comfort and “a lot of tail wags” to those he meets.
