Fall River school bus costs increase to $17M as enrollment drops

The bus ride to and from school just got a little more expensive, even as enrollments are down, school officials say.

At the April 14 joint meeting of the City Council and the Fall River Public School Committee, Chief Operating Officer Ken Pacheco said the cost of districtwide transportation rang up at $13,850,048 million this year, a $731,724 increase from last year.

Additional costs related to transportation totaled to $17.1 million, but would be covered by grant funding that in prior years were expected to be partially reimbursable.
