DEA offers safe way to dispose of old medications on the SouthCoast

Do you have expired or unused prescription drugs sitting in your medicine cabinet or nightstand?

If so, it is important to get rid of them safely. When unused medications are not properly disposed of, they can end up in the wrong hands, which can be dangerous and sometimes even tragic.

To help prevent this, the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA is once again teaming up with local law enforcement agencies for a nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

On Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., collection sites across the country will offer a safe and convenient way to dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted medications. This marks the 30th time the event has been held.

Collection sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the following SouthCoast locations:

  • Middleborough Police Department, 350 Wood St., Middleborough
  • New Bedford Police Department, 871 Rockdale Ave., New Bedford
  • Somerset Police Department, 465 County St., Somerset
  • Tiverton Police Department, 20 Industrial Way, Tiverton, R.I.
  • Wareham Police Department, 2515 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham
