    A new law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that will allow retail establishments to do away with individual pricing stickers on every item in their stores will go into effect on the first day of 2013 next week; Retailers will be able to offer electronic scanners, as Wal Mart and Target do now, to allow consumers to check the price of items they want. The legislation had been discussed for several years on Beacon Hill before Governor Patrick signed it into law last summer.

    The ''Boston Globe'' is reporting that Foxwoods is preparing to break ground on a 75 store outlet mall as part of an effort to attract and retain its gaming base as Massachusetts prepares to roll out as many as three casinos in this decade, while Rhode Island will add table game offerings at Twin Rivers later in 2013. The ''Globe'' reports that Dr. Clyde Barrow of UMass Dartmouth estimates that Mohegan Sun gets about 32% of its clientle from the Commonwealth, while Foxwoods attracts 20% of its players from Massachusetts.
