ZBA No Go On Salvage Car Proposal

The Fall River Zoning Board of Appeals has denied a request by Copart of Connecticut Incorporated that would have allowed for a variance request to allow retail sale and auction of used, damaged, operable and inoperable vehicles of various types.

Attorney Mark Levin argued that a fence would obstruct any view of the vehicles while opponents argued there were better uses of the property that have been explored over the last decade.

Currently, the property houses Shell Oil tanks that have been empty for several years; it was to have been a site for LNG storage tanks, and has been proposed as a layover for potential commuter rail cars.
