The Pawtucket Hearings Begin

The Rhode Island Senate Finance Committee meets Thursday to begin a review of proposed legislation that would provide public tax dollars for a proposed $83 million ballpark for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

The proposal would have the ownership kick in around $45 million, the city of Pawtucket $15 million and the State of Rhode Island the remainder for a ballpark and entertainment complex in Downtown Pawtucket.

The International League's Triple A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox has drawn interest from Worcester, while Somerset and Swansea Selectmen have offered ideas regarding land.

The first session in the Rhode State House in Providence will happen Thursday at 6pm with a video stream on The Rhode Island's General Assembly Website.
