New Criminal Reform Package

Under current Massachusetts General Law, solicitation for murder is classified as a misdemeanor, while in Maine and New Hampshire, it could land you in jail for 20 years.

Increasing the penalty for that offense is part of a reform package sent to Beacon Hill by the Baker Administration as the Great and General Court prepares to go back into formal session following the Labor Day Weekend.

Somerset-Based Attorney and WSAR Legal Analyst Steve Sabre tells WSAR that the Administration likely felt it was time for an upgrade in penalties for planning to murder someone.
