WSAR first went on the air in 1921. It’s one of the nation’s oldest radio stations, boasting 88 years in the business!

 

 

It has broadcasted monumental events, such as notice of the beginning of World War I, the end of World War II, the assassination of President Kennedy, and the events of 9/11!

 

 

WSAR is called “The Voice of the South Coast,” because special guests, callers, politicians, newsmakers, and community leaders dominate the airwaves. WSAR’s personalities provide the perfect balance, because they engage and challenge the callers.

 

 

WSAR is also home to historic sporting events, and the station is committed to community service, such as Kids World, Michaels’s Fund, etc.

 

 

Amazingly, WSAR is locally-owned! Brothers Bob and Jim Karam are committed to quality broadcasting, and both are deeply involved in the South Coast communities. In a time when big conglomerates own everything, it’s refreshing to have a station that is inherently more responsive to advertisers and listeners.
